Roof restorations can seem to be a daunting prospect with many aspects, some of which you may not be familiar with. Restorepoint Services can go through all the specific details, tailoring and delivering to meet your needs.

We deal with every aspect, all work is carried out by us and never outsourced.

Ranging from a full restoration, to the basic roof painting/re-pointing, packages can be tailored to your needs and fit your budget.

Once completed we provide a 10 year guarantee on all roof coatings and flexible pointing compounds used in the restoration.

Below is an overview of how we proceed with a typical full restoration for tin and tiled roofs

  • High pressure cleaning roof to remove all dirt, moss, mould, lichen, etc. from either the tin or tiles so as to ensure that the bonding of  the roof coatings is maximised.
  • Roof battens/purlins where damaged are repaired or replaced as necessary
  • Roof Tiles where broken/damaged are repaired  or replaced as necessary. We can source matching spare tiles if needed and do recommend that at least a dozen spare tiles are available to be repainted to match your soon to be newly painted roof. Most tiles are commonly available.
  • Ridgecapping, roofing and valleys(Tin roof) Any rust spots that are present or revealed after cleaning are treated (If surface rust) with an epinamel primer. More substantial rust is recommended to be removed, discarded and replaced with new colourbond parts as needed. Please note older roofs that have older generation steel cannot have partial replacements, as new colourbond will accelerate the old roofing to rust out completely quite quickly. We will let you know if re-roofing is a better option.
  • Valleys, Gutters & Downpipes are replaced with new colourbond next generation steel. This is not always necessary and often partial restorations with roof plumbing in good condition are able to keep their original components or replace damaged segments as needed.
  • Ridgecapping(Tiled roof) is examined. Where weathering, separation or damage is present or prevalent then repointing is carried out with a flexible acrylic based flexible pointing compound. If needed capping will be rebedded with fresh mortar prior to this. The new flexible compounds give the roof a greater durability primarily from expansion/contraction of the roof in weather extremes.
  • Roof penetrations/flashings such as flumes, whirlybirds, vents and malleable flashings are inspected, repaired or replaced as necessary.
  • Recoating/Painting with trusted Shieldcoat RoofbondTM paints available in a wide spectrum of colours, including the contemporary colourbond range. After an initial primer coat is applied, the final two coats, of selected colour, are applied. All additions to the roof, ie PV Solar, adjacent polycarbonate patios, skylights, Evaporative A/C, etc.. are shielded during the application of all coatings.

TIP FOR WARY CONSUMERS - always state when receiving a quote AND before the job is completed, that you would like to have left at your house all empty containers, for both paint and flexible pointing compound. This tells you how much paint and product has been applied, whether  primer has been used (in almost all cases a WHITE colour). A good rule of thumb for a standard 4 x2  house(~350m2 roof area) is 2 - 3 containers of primer(1 coat) and 6 - 7 containers of coloured paint(2 coats). 4 - 5 containers of  flexible pointing compound. This will show you that the right amount of product has been applied.
